Hope Wanjiru is one of the young farmers growing crops under the hydroponics system and together with her group, they have managed to secure contracts with large firms supplying them with lettuce and tomatoes every season. Only about a third of Nigeria is arable land, according to World Bank figures. This falls way short of the land needed for food production. Entrepreneur Samson Ogbole has set up his own farms using aeropnic and hydroponic farming methods that use water and fertilizer to grow crops in compact areas.
