John Anari, Leader of WPLO and Ambassador of ULMWP to the United Nations was silent by Moderator of United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII) on April 22th, 2021 at Agenda Item 5 (d): Human rights dialogue with the Special Rapporteur on the rights of indigenous peoples and the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and the Voluntary Fund for Indigenous Peoples.

UN silenced West Papua's voice. In repetition of 2019 when the Permanent Forum for Indigenous Issues shouted across their room to silence the West Papuan speaker Mr John Anario, the United Nations using video broadcast in 2021 has again silenced Mr Anari as he presented West Papua's call for the United Nations to comply with its international legal obligations 27 seconds into their broadcast of his statement.

The West Papua National Liberation Army [TPNPB] - 1 Mar 2021
A battalion consisting of volunteers from Sepik Province, Papua New Guinea, announced they will join the armed struggle for an independent West Papua. It’s the first time Papuans from both sides of New Guinea’s vertical border join forces to confront Indonesia’s 60-year-old annexation of the western half of the island.

Indonesia is preparing to deploy hundreds of soldiers to its eastern provinces in an effort to combat separatist groups.
Recent shoot-outs with armed fighters in Papua and West Papua have forced villagers to flee their homes.
There is now concern the government's decision to designate Papuan groups as terrorists may inflame tensions even further.
