⁣Black Wallstreet is well-known but between 1856-1920, over 50 all-Black towns were established in the state of Oklahoma...13 are still incorporated today. Throughout the U.S., Black people in the 19th and early 20th centuries sought out AUTONOMY by forming their own towns and controlling all aspects of their own lives.
