This Participatory Video, produced by the people of Kafuta, in the West Coast Region of The Gambia looks into the contentious issue of land grabbing which has plagued them for the past 14 years or so. It highlights the stories of residents of Kafuta, who as a community had suffered from the occupation of a vast area of their farmlands by The Karafi Group, denying them access to utilize it for their farming activities, which is the main economic activity of the community.
The land in questions was allegedly given away to the Kharafi Group by the then government of the Gambia, without the consent of the people of Kafuta. This has culminated in a contentious relation between the Kharafi farm in the community and the people of Kafuta. Numerous attempts have been made to solicit support from various government institutions to remedy the situation but to no avail, and compensation routes have been sought to no avail as well.
The video essentially captures numerous stories of struggle for sustenance and justice.
Facilitated by Gambia Participates, with support from the ATJLF.
Chapter 14
On this episode of Yediemu we got closer to the elders of Akuapim to tell us the history of the people of Akuapim, he told the history as follows ; The Odwira festival is celebrated by the chiefs and peoples of Fanteakwa District and Akuapem in the Eastern Region of Ghana. The Odwira Festival is celebrated by the people of Akropong-Akuapim, Aburi, Larteh, and Mamfe. This is celebrated annually in the month of September and October. The festival celebrates a historic victory over the Ashanti]s in 1826. This was the battle of Katamansu near Dodowa. It was first celebrated in October 1826.
This was during the reign of the 19th Okuapimhene of Akropong, Nana Addo Dankwa (I) from 1811 to 1835. It is a time of spiritual purification where the people are renewed and receive protection. It is also celebrated by the people of Jamestown in Accra. This is due to the associations formed through the intermarriages of the Ga and Akuapem people.
Customarily, the scheduling of the festival occurs simultaneously with the reaping season when there is bumper food; during which gratitude is shown to the Ancestors by the people. Being a yam festival, thanksgiving for the bumper reap is principally demonstrated in the "giving food to the ancestors".

Lyric transcript (partial):
Thomas Edison made the light bulb, cool.
But Lewis Lattimer made that light improve!
If you ever feel you can’t shine in class,
Look up at the light, Black made that!
Cars use a spark plug to start
You need an X-Ray to see broken arms
How you think food travels across those states?
Fridges in trucks keep all that safe.
You use a sharpener when your pencil breaks.
You keep your valuables in a fire safe.
With a super soaker you can be a water gun shooter
1gig processer chip in my computer
Every time you X Box or PS4,
Know Jerry Lawson made the first console
When you go see a 3D movie
Say Hannah and Dunkley brought this to me
That’s spark plug, x ray. Mobile fridge
Pencil sharpener, processor 1 gig
Fire safe, super soaker, 3D glasses
3D movie, first console that’s it
Empire’s on Who’s watching it , Mamma
Ghost or Tommy either way its drama
When Liv’s lips quiver Fitz is a gonner
How I know all of this? Its cuz Shonda (2)
Black made that! All that! X3
Black Made That! All that! All That!
Washington DC is nice,
And the President’s House is white
Every time you look at that
Know those who build it were Black. Facts
Its black made. This, this, this black made
When you look in the mirror, smile ‘cus its true
You’re astonishing, and Black made you!
Black Made That. Geometry!
Black Made That. Astronomy!
Black Made That. Philosophy!
Black Made That. Hold up Wait.
Griot B, Philosophy? Greeks made that!
No Philosophy’s from Egypt, we made that!
Art, medicine, and even math
All started in Africa, we take that.
We invented many things but our patent was taken.s
Or bought for a fraction of what it would be making.
Our culture can be seen in most things in this nation.
Let me teach you about app-ropriation.
Seen on us it’s ugly, and on others it is praised
Like: “Corn Rolls are thuggish, but I love those Boxer Braids”
They’re the same thing just a different skin and different name
It’s taken straight from us, and the thief gets the fame.
Rock and roll music to most is great.
But Chuck Berry taught Elvis how to shake!
Use our dance moves and all our slang.
Just know we influenced in ALL THESE WAYS!
Black made that! All that! X3
Black Made That! All that! All That!
Where my Patent At? Black Made That! X3
Where my patent at! You know Black Made That!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdCiNqMsnCQCargo cult - what is it?Cargo cults are a fascinating and controversial phenomenon that emerged in the Pacific islands during and after World War II. These beliefs and practices, steeped in superstition and magic, promised the delivery of modern goods and technologies to those who adopted the behaviors and beliefs of Western soldiers. However, as these cargo cults spread and evolved, they also brought about unintended negative consequences that could have disastrous effects on individual and community well-being.At the core of cargo cults is the power of belief and the allure of false hope. For people living in poverty and desperation, the promise of easy solutions to their problems can be irresistible. However, this blind faith can lead to exploitation and deception by those who seek to profit from the followers' gullibility. Additionally, the adoption of Western beliefs and behaviors can erode traditional values and cultural identity, leading to social and psychological problems. The cargo cult phenomenon also raises important questions about the impact of modernization and Western influence on indigenous cultures. While cargo cults emerged in the context of World War II, they continue to persist and evolve today in response to the forces of globalization and neo-colonialism. The clash between traditional values and Western ideologies, as well as the power dynamics involved, can lead to resistance and social engineering.Through the lens of ethnography, anthropology, sociology, and psychology, this video explores the complexities and potential dangers of cargo cults. By understanding the root causes and consequences of this phenomenon, we can better appreciate the importance of critical thinking and cultural sensitivity in navigating the changing world around us."I hope this description captures the key ideas and themes related to cargo cults and their potential negative impacts on individuals and communities, while incorporating the keywords provided.

this is not just another tech update. It is a revolution.
The African Union has officially launched the Continental Internet Exchange—a complete digital infrastructure that bypasses Western control. For the first time, 1.4 billion Africans are connected through their own fiber cables, data centers, and a brand-new protocol that Google cannot dominate.
What does this mean?
📌 Faster, cheaper, more reliable internet for African citizens.
📌 $50 billion kept inside Africa instead of flowing to Silicon Valley.
📌 A direct challenge to Google, Microsoft, and Amazon’s monopoly.
📌 The rise of true digital sovereignty in the 21st century.
President Ibrahim Traoré of Burkina Faso has long spoken about independence in gold, agriculture, and energy. Now, Africa is reclaiming its digital future as well. Could this be the beginning of the post-Google era?
👉 Do you believe that Africa’s model will spread to South America, Asia, and beyond?
👉 Can the United States and Silicon Valley adapt, or will they resist?
If you feel that you are among the first to witness this turning point in history, please share this video.
Subscribe if you believe that truth matters more than monopolies.

Steve Cokely (June 17, 1952 - April 11, 2012) was an American political researcher and lecturer who lectured nationally on political and economic issues relating especially to the African American community.
Steve Cokely was also a futurologist who commented extensively on water conservation, organic farming, and communal living. Cokely gave over 5,000 lectures on the topic of global warming and corporate conspiracies, the Trilateral Commission, The Bilderberg Group, Rothchilds, Rockefellers, Boule, etc.
Cokely's research delved into the history of Marcus Garvey, the Black Panthers and other areas of African-American history.
Cokely lectured at many college campuses nationally and was also known for his conspiracy theories involving the Black Male elite organization known as the Sigma Pi Phi and the Assassination of Martin Luther King Jr by the hands of Rev.Jesse Jackson and the C.I.A.
Cokely was assistant to the special committee on rules under Mayor Harold Washington. He gained notoriety when he served as special assistant to the former mayor of Chicago, Eugene Sawyer.
Cokely was criticized for teaching that Jewish doctors were using the AIDS virus in an attempted genocide against Africans. His comments created a nationally publicized controversy in 1988 and he was dismissed from his position as aide to Sawyer.
When in 1990 Illinois Governor James Thompson signed an agreement to open an Israeli Aircraft Industries plant in Rockford, Cokely was an outspoken opponent. He argued that Black leaders in Illinois should oppose Israeli war industries because of their military support for the Apartheid system in South Africa.
Cokely gained the national spotlight again in 1996 after he was scheduled to speak at "Our Roots Run Deep", a Black History Month lecture series in New York City hosted by the Warner Music Group. Also scheduled were Al Sharpton, Conrad Muhammad, Jimmy Castor, Hannibal Lokumbe and Dick Gregory. The Jewish Defense Organization objected, organizing a call-in campaign to Warner Brothers and threatening a boycott. The Anti-Defamation League and the New York Post also objected to Cokely (as well as Sharpton and Muhammad) speaking at the event. Warner removed Cokely and Muhammad without issuing a press release.

Helicopter and Spaceship Hieroglyphs? The Real Deal from Ɔbenfo Ọbádélé Kambon
song about going back home to Afrika
When Americans no longer want a car, laptop or clothes, where do some of those goods go? Most end up in the Global South, where millions of people depend on repairing, dismantling or selling them for a livelihood. Environmental groups say this is a toxic trifecta of waste that inflicts damage to land, coastlines and health. Fred de Sam Lazaro reports in partnership with the Pulitzer Center.
