TwiSwahili or KiswaTwili: A Study of Parallel Proverbs in Akan (Twi) and Kiswahili
Abstract
In Akan and Kiswahili, there are several proverbs that express the same underlying idea, oftentimes in the exact same or similar ways. Examples of these include:
1. a. Kikulacho kinguoni mwako
That which eats you (up) is in your clothing
b. Aboa bi bɛkawo a, naɛfiri wo ntoma mu
If a bug will bite you, it’s from in your cloth
2. a. Chakula chema hakihitaji kawa
Good food needs no coverlet against the flies.
b. Adepa tɔn ne ho
A good thing sells itself.
c. Nkyene nkamfo ne ho.
Salt does not praise itself.
There are several possible reasons why these parallel proverbs exist. In one line of thinking, the similarities may be due to contact phenomena such as shared cultural and/or historical experiences. Another perspective may be due to the demonstrably genetic relationship between Akan and Kiswahili languages. In this study, however, we will examine these proverbs in parallel or near-parallel and demonstrate that regardless of the facts of the two aforementioned lines of inquiry, these proverbs attest to a shared African worldview.

Okuninibaa Marimba Ani delivers a powerful speech on her book YURUGU explaining in detail Afrikan world view and #yurugu world view. The meaning and purposes of culture and where Afrikan culture it’s centered: principles, purposes and relation to the Universe.Very important speech and book. As Afrikan people in the diaspora and in the continent after colonization understands this better we will be able to work together and fulfill the promises of a pan African state as #MarcusGarvey profecied as well as many other leaders. Okuninibaa Ani also mentions #OkuniniAmosWilson and the celebration on his tribute and how a critical thinker he was, as he brought forth a lot of understanding about Afrikan education, our union and objectives as a group and how integration in the Americas didn’t help us at all.Check out #AmosWilson playlist as well as #MarimbaAni playlist for more powerful lessons. This is #AfrikanFacts

This video shows us that the African traditional religion can be practiced at the divine level and at the human level.

At the divine level, the practice is based on the purification of thoughts and aims to recover one's nature as a Child of God (an Osiris), to develop a power, and to protect the community against witchcraft. The power developed at this level is the succor of the ancestors of water (bakulu ba maza), it can only be used in good.

In human practice, the power developed in divine practice is perpetuated as the use of the spirits of forest (bakulu ba nseke) for the protection of the population, its elevation, and its peace. Power in human practice can be used in good as well in evil.

This Pre-Recorded show will explain how the Twa based, just family model, where "all the males and females being equally empowered to govern every phase of society," was the basis for African just societies and provides the culturally consistent model for revitalizing Black families and extended family communities today, based on mutual respect and love between males and females.
