Dr. Gad Barnea is not your typical Bible scholar—he’s reshaping how we view ancient Judaism and the Hebrew Bible, tackling one of its core assumptions: that Moses and his story are older than the 4th century BCE. As a Lecturer in Jewish History and Biblical Studies at the University of Haifa and a Research Fellow at the École biblique et archéologique Française, Dr. Barnea focuses on Yahwism under the “Iranian Age of Empires,” exploring how Persian rule and Zoroastrianism likely shaped early Judaism, suggesting the Moses narrative may have emerged far later than commonly thought.Beyond texts, Barnea has uncovered a groundbreaking ostracon from Elephantine, the earliest known Jewish curse text, and evidence of a Jewish priestess—a revelation about ancient Jewish rituals. He’s also restored a Qumran scroll (4Q550) containing a forgotten Achaemenid court tale, set to release with Brill, and co-edits a book on “Yahwism under the Achaemenid Empire.”With years of tech experience, Barnea is also advancing Digital Humanities, making biblical studies accessible and transforming how we understand figures like Moses in light of hellenistic influences.overing a history that reshapes our understanding of the Bible and Moses himself.Dr. Gad Barnea linksAcademia - https://haifa.academia.edu/gadbarneaHis new book free open access - https://www.degruyter.com/docu....ment/doi/10.1515/978 the other awesome interview with Dr. Gad Barnea on @GnosticInformant https://youtu.be/ZEEhqRxfFck?si=i8iK20IDP6J0ZYmz

The ancient portrayal and account of the invasion, conquest foreign rule of the Hyksos in Kmt is by the native indigenous Kmtyw High Priest, scholar, and historian Manetho.

Manetho is best known for his three-volume work Aegyptiaca, a lengthy chronological history of ancient Kmt.
Manetho is described as a native indigenous Kmtyw High Priest who have been taught in his mother tongue, Mdu Ntr, but adopted the Hellenistic Greco-Roman culture and identity.

As recorded by Josephus, Manetho describes the beginning of Hyksos rule as thus:
“A people of no noble origin from the east, whose coming was unforeseen, had the audacity to invade Kmt, invade the country, which they mastered by main force without difficulty or even battle. Having overpowered the kings and chiefs, they then savagely burnt the cities, razed the temples of the gods to the ground, and treated the whole native population with the utmost cruelty, massacring some, and carrying off the wives and children of others into slavery. They were violent conquerors and oppressors of Kmt” (Contra Apion I.75-7).

Josephus, the ancient Jewish historian, and most of the ancient writers and scholars of antiquity, associate and connect the Hyksos with the Israelite Jews. Quoting from Manetho’s Aegyptiaca, Josephus states that when “the Hyksos were expelled from Kmt, they founded Jerusalem”(Contra Apion I.90).
