Auto industry insiders were stunned when Caresoft, a highly regarded engineering consulting firm, tore down BYD's mass-market EV, the Seagull.

Priced around $11,000, the engineers found the Seagull to be well-designed, user friendly, rich with options, and of surprisingly high quality and reliability.

The US automakers reacted swiftly, and produced reports insisting that BYD's entrance into US car markets would be met with strong enthusiasm from buyers, and legacy carmakers would be unable to survive.

Because of the Seagull's low price point, US tariffs of 25% would be irrelevant: BYD could still make high profits even after the tariffs were paid. Or, BYD could simply place final assembly plants in Mexico and avoid them altogether. Aware of this, the Biden Administration in May jacked the tariffs up to 100%, and announced that Chinese car plants even in tariff treaty countries would be cut off from US markets.

Correction: I was wrong when I said that EV's are lighter. Apologies. I was working with three sets of notes, and the changes didn't make it over in the final draft. It was my fault. Cheers. Kw

The United States and its western allies preach “Free Trade” and “Fair Competition” economics to African countries, but the United States and its western allies do the opposite of what they preach.

How can we use China to industrialize Kmt=Abibiman=Farafina=the Lands of Black people.

@Baka Omubo: I am all for sending our children to China to learn. We have to warned our children they are not going to China to marry a Chinese person, to fall in love with a Chinese person, they are not going to China to integrate into Chinese culture and society. They are going to China to gain the necessary knowledge and skills and bring it back to Africa to build companies and infrastructure, and disseminate and communicate the knowledge and skills into African universities. The same thing China did in the 1990’s-2000’s where Chinese parents sent millions of Chinese kids to America and developed western countries to learn and to bring the the skills and knowledge they learned abroad to China to help develop China. And now, China is the superpower nation of the future. We have to start somewhere. China was the laughing stock of the world in the 1970’s-1990’s, but today China is one of the most wealthiest and most powerful countries in the world, and all future projections suggest China will be the number one superpower of the world in a few decades. We have to start somewhere. We can’t keep being at the bottom of the totem pole. We have been at the bottom for far too long.

@Kwabena Ofori Osei: Does this involve our Afrikan youth learning Mandarin for them to be able to learn and disseminate information from China?

@Kwabena Ofori Osei: Sending your children and students to learn in a foreign land in order to become a superpower, is nothing new. The Greeks did it. In ancient times, the Greeks sent their students to Kmt to learn and returned back to Greece with the knowledge and skills they acquired. And in contemporary times, the Chinese sent their students to America and developed western countries to learn and returned back to China with the knowledge and skills they acquired. And both times, the recipient became a superpower nation.

@Baka Omubo: If that is what it takes. In the near future China is going to be the center of trade and commerce of the world. So learning Mandarin will help. I’m not saying learning Mandarin should come before learning African languages. African languages should and will always come first. African languages will always be on top. If African children can learn other African languages and also Mandarin, especially for those who plan on going to China for their studies, i believe it will beneficial. We should warn our children, they are not learning Mandarin to integrate into Chinese culture and society. They are learning Mandarin to acquire the knowledge and skills in China and come back home to Africa to help develop Africa, like how the Chinese did.

@Kwabena Ofori Osei: How do we enforce this code so that they don't shack up with the Chinese there & never come home to Afrika?

@Baka Omubo: If we warned them this is not about them. This is about the future of Africa. This is about the future of the Black race. There are Black children among us, no matter what you tell them they are going to them, all they care is about themselves. But I believe majority of African children wants what is best for Africa and the Black race, especially if they have the foundation of an African centered education.

This is not an endorsement of China, This is to show the mindset of a people who wants to build and be a superpower and those who are content and wants to be consumers at the bottom of the totem pole.
