Ghana's 'Witch Camps' Are Just Disturbing.

It always comes back to foreign ideologies and foreign religions:
In Ghana and across Africa in general, there is the strong belief that the spiritual world coexists with the physical world. Many Africans strongly believe that the spiritual world exerts un-denying influence on the physical realm.
Until a few centuries ago, there was no such thing as “witches” in African society. While many African people believe that malevolent spiritual forces influence the physical, pre-European contact Africans did not call them “witches”, or had any idea what “witches” were. They generally conceptualized this spirit energies by performing peace offerings to avert and appease their wrath.
When European Christian Missionaries began proselytizing-evangelizing-preaching in Africa in the 1400s and onwards, they started labeling African Spiritual practices as “witchcraft.” And this name and term. “witch-witchcraft”, have been stuck and associated with African Spiritual practices ever since.
