When will we make our public goods and infrastructure a personal matter?
When we are in a public space, for example, when you are inside our public buses, it automatically becomes a personal responsibility as soon as you board. That is why respect for everything around you makes you a good citizen.
The perpetrators of the acts you saw in the video, have been apprehended. They will be subjected to community service. This will consist of washing the public buses everyday for an indefinite period. They will also be involved in road construction, repairs, maintenance, and clearing out gutters. These sanctions will be renewed and increased with a certain severity each time an individual harm the common good of the public.

You must make it a moral civic duty to respect the rules that preserve and protect public order. So consuming food and leaving garbage and scraps inside the buses, creating waste and trash inside the buses, littering inside the buses, and loudly using offensive language when children and women are in the buses, as we saw in the video, are behaviors that harm the common good of the public degrade the comfort and social climate for user on the buses. And it will not be tolerated on the buses. Furthermore, it endangers other passengers, given that shouting and yelling disrupts and distracts the driver, increasing the risks of accidents.
So to all my Burkinabè bus users, let us make our public buses a national pride. Discipline and respect inside our public buses is a personal matter. Please, don’t litter. Pick up your trash and your waste when exiting the bus.
Let us avoid offensive language, especially when children and women are on the bus. Always give up your seat to our mothers and our elders, and people with disabilities. Always use respectful language towards our drivers and conductors. Because the preservation, maintenance and love for the common good of the public is a common duty for every good citizen in Burkina Faso.
