“We must manage to process our cotton, everywhere. We must no longer sell cotton in its raw state. Burkina Faso is a cotton producing country, and yet we export it. We have been doing this since independence, and we were happy with this arrangement.
They pay us (cheap), a price that they set. Isn’t it? They tell you ‘we will pay you a certain price’ (a low-ball price), you agree and go and produce the raw cotton, they take it and leave. There you go, they give you a few money in your pocket and you are happy.
No, this is very dangerous. We must process our raw cotton ourselves.”
