I can say with conviction that many of these NGOs operate more in the interest of their western funders than the communities they claim to serve.
A small, complicit circle among our own people often facilitates this, hosting occasional events that provide just enough visibility for photo opportunities. Meanwhile, behind the scenes, the real objectives are pursued quietly, far from public scrutiny.
If you’re skeptical, take a closer look: among the many NGOs active in African countries , how many can genuinely point to sustained, meaningful development? Not one-off events or symbolic gestures like distributing meals for a day, but long-term impact that improves lives and builds communities. There’s none. By the way, if these foreign NGOs truly claim to support the people, then when the government asks you to leave, the principled response is simple: respect that decision and take your resources elsewhere. There’s no need to make noise about it.
