identity and religion in particular Christianity and liberation theology have
been used by South Sudanese society as a form of resistance and expression of
agency against the state policy of Arabization and Islamization by successive
Khartoum governments against the fight for human and citizen rights in South
Sudan prior to the region's independence from Sudan in 2011.

Palestine and Israel is a well known issue and ongoing conflict that is well known but has been presented to the world in a sugar coated and even simplified way that hides the harsh realities of Palestinian life under Israeli occupation. Missing from the story of Palestine and the Palestinian people is the unequalness of the conflict and that Israel's creation in 1948 didn't bring peace for displaced Palestinians or the wider Middle East. It led to decades of Palestinian society being fractured through Israeli military occupation, a settler colonial state created for Jews at the expense of the indigenous Palestinians, a human rights issue often described as a religious conflict while its modern social and political problems are overlooked.

North Africa, bordering the Mediterrean Sea, Red Sea and Atlantic Ocean, is home to the country Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt and Sudan. It's unique culture and societies a blend of Amazigh, Arab and African has led many people to assume that North Africa is seperate or a world apart from the rest of Africa. Despite its connection to the wider Mediterrean trade and Europe's attempt to take North Africa out of the continent, the region is still part of Africa. Culture, history and trade attests to the region's complexity.
