ABOUT DR. ELAINE FERGUSON:

Dr. Elaine Ferguson is a pioneer in the field of integrative and holistic medicine, host of the highly acclaimed PBS program SuperHealing® Secrets and author of several books, including the international bestseller SuperHealing®: Engaging Your Mind, Body and Spirit to Create Optimal Health and Well-Being.

She’s lectured extensively at conferences, universities and medical schools, consulted with businesses, government agencies, not-for-profits, faith-based organizations, and testified on a Congressional alternative medicine panel. Dr. Elaine has also appeared on countless television programs including BET, Lifetime, ABC, NBC, CBS; national radio programs and was featured in magazines, including Ebony, Jet, Essence and Alternative Medicine Digest.

Her first book, Healing, Health and Transformation: New Frontiers in Medicine, was acclaimed by many including: Deepak Chopra, Larry Dossey, and Elisabeth Kubler-Ross.

Dr. Elaine is a graduate of Brown University, Duke University School of Medicine and completed her post-graduate training at the University of Chicago.

During her trailblazing career, she practiced holistic medicine in the Chicago area in a variety of settings, including Cancer Treatment Centers of America. She’s also served as the medical director of the Chicago Public School system, taught mind-body medicine in the first graduate level holistic medicine program in the US (at DePaul University), created one of the first mindfulness wellness programs for administrators at the Chicago Public School system, and designed wellness programs for the 650,000 employees of the United States Postal Service.
Currently, she is the Associate National Medical Director of the United States Postal Service.

Most importantly and beyond all of her distinguished accomplishments, Dr. Elaine is an humble servant and passionate advocate of self-health realization.

Bello is the mother of four, grandmother of 10 and great grandmother of 4. She first earned an Administrative degree at New York State University. Then went on to gain a B.S. in Education and an M.S. in Linguistics. Bello taught Arabic at Muhammad University of Islam. She discovered the joy of writing and published several language manuals and children's storybooks.

Bello has lived in Liberia, Nigeria and Togo. She’s visited all the West African countries and several others on the continent. Back in the United States Bello worked as a publicist for the Museum of Natural History.

After gaining a Masters Degree in Primary Education and more teaching experience, Bello returned to Haiti. There, she taught the Hausa language and culture at the State University of Haiti. She also founded the ‘Citadelle International School,’ a bilingual school for Primary & Secondary aged children, aiming to aid young Haitians returning home to adapt.

Professor Bello teaches anthropology at the State University of Haiti. She is among the few professional educators to have dedicated her life’s work to the struggle for human rights and dignity for our peoples across the planet. A humanitarian and advocate, Professor Bello continues to contribute time and resources to assist in the development of programs based on a procedure she conceived. It states that the greatest knowledge is the knowledge of Self. Once one has developed the knowledge of Self one has no basis to envy another, to desire that which is not naturally yours, to promote or practice corruption; …one is empowered to generate reciprocity which is the foundation from which springs abundance and prosperity. Professor Bello is fluent in Haitian Kreyòl, French, English, Arabic and Hausa. She is currently working as Professor at the State University of Haiti.

Professor Bello was featured as a leading Haiti scholar and historian in the documentary 1804: The Hidden History of Haiti.

Publications: 1970, Beautiful Black Words for Beautiful Black Children, AMA Publishers; countless articles on History, Women, Vodoun, Education & Culture in magazines and journals in Afrika, the Caraibes & the United States; 1995, Almanak Ayisyen/Ayitian Calendar 1995; 1995 Héritage Maternel, poems on audio cassette; 2000, Mwen Rele Kanis Ogis, autobiography of a 123-year-old man; 2015, Bio of Jean-Jacques Dessalines, and Sheroes of the Haitian Revolution published by Thorobred Books.

Professor Bello is committed to achieving the primary goal of FONDASYON FELICITEE which she founded to develop a liberating educational system beneficial to all those affected by the Maafa.

In this video, Robert explains his process for creating a PVC drip irrigation system for his raised square foot garden.

Robert also shows how he is using his rain barrel water system that can be controlled by his smart phone to turn the drip irrigation system on and off.

A comparison between class 200 and schedule 40 PVC is also performed, and Robert explains his thoughts between the two types.

Overall, Robert’s goal was to keep the overall cost low for creating a DIY PVC drip irrigation system but also making the system easy to disassemble, reassemble and flexible for different types of gardens.

Many definitions of aquaponics recognize the ‘ponics’ part of this word for hydroponics which is growing plants in water with a soil-less media. Hydroponics is its own growing method with pros and cons (discussed later).

Literally speaking, Aquaponics is putting fish to work. It just so happens that the work those fish do (eating and producing waste), is the perfect fertilizer for growing plants. And man, fish can grow a lot of plants when they get to work!

One of the coolest things about Aquaponics is that it mimics a natural ecosystem. Aquaponics represents the relationship between water, aquatic life, bacteria, nutrient dynamics, and plants that grow together in waterways all over the world. Taking cues from nature, aquaponics harnesses the power of bio-integrating these individual components: Exchanging the waste by-product from the fish as a food for the bacteria, to be converted into a perfect fertilizer for the plants, to return the water in a clean and safe form to the fish. Just like mother nature does in every aquatic ecosystem.
