“The West African state has shown no willingness to engage with the companies (GoviEx and its local subsidiary) to reach an amicable settlement,” GoviEx project developer said.

The West African state, Niger, has shown ‘no willingness to engage and reach an amicable settlement’

GoviEx had tried to appeal to Niger’s president in a local administrative recourse without success, it said.

In July Niger’s military leaders announced the decision to withdraw the Canadian mining company, GoviEx, mining rights for the Madaouela uranium project.

GoviEx Uranium and its subsidiary GoviEx Niger Holdings have begun legal arbitration lawsuit against Niger for alleging that the West aAfrican country’s military junta breached its legal obligations when it withdrew GoviEx’s mining rights for the Madaouela uranium property.

A Canadian uranium mining company has launched an arbitration lawsuit claim against Niger over the cancellation of its mining rights for a uranium project in Niger.
