Rob Hersov joins The Winston Marshall Show to discuss decolonisation in Africa, British colonialism, Cecil Rhodes and the political and economic legacy of European rule across the continent. A South African entrepreneur and private investor with an MBA from Harvard Business School, Hersov has founded and chaired Africa-focused investment businesses and worked across finance, media and aviation. He argues that governance and corruption, rather than colonialism, are central to Africa’s modern challenges, while examining education, infrastructure and development in Zimbabwe, Kenya, Rwanda, Ghana and South Africa. The discussion also covers Rhodes’ legacy, racism in colonial Africa, post-colonial leadership and the African countries he believes have the strongest prospects for future investment and growth.
