The new president of Benin, Wadagni, should not be trusted. He was hand picked by the previous president, Talon.
He is doing the same thing that the president of Senegal, Faye, did when he was elected as president.
Benin is a compromised nation and a puppet nation still under French colonial rule. The French colonial actors that Benin is beholden to is still very strong. Until the French troops and military bases are gone in Benin, the AES nations need to be suspicious of Benin. AES need not jeopardize their sovereignty leverage for expediency.
If you want to deal with other nations, especially hostile nations, you need extraordinary leverage over them - which is not the case yet.
For Wadagni, to have my full support, he should closed the French military base in benin and cut all military partnership deal with France.
