Just as Solomon Northup, a free black man, was tricked and kidnapped into slavery by the two white men,
Toussaint Louverture, a free black man, was tricked and arrested by white Frenchmen and was kidnapped to France, where he was repeatedly tortured and interrogated and placed in a French prison. Toussaint Louverture died a miserable death in a French prison.
