Don’t Believe. Know
Do Not Believe. Have Knowledge
“Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it.
Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many.
Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books or in any book.
Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders.
Do not believe in traditions because they have been passed down from generations to generations (our Ancestors have been doing this tradition since time immemorial, our forefathers and foremothers have been doing this tradition since the beginning of time)
But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.”
—A Buddha quote (This is not a promotion or an endorsement of the Buddha religion. It is a powerful quote that everyone should live by, especially in the Black Community=Abibiman=Kmt.
Brilliant analysis on how many Christians read the Bible, especially Black Christians:
When Dr. Ehrman asked his students, “How many of you believe the Bible is the inspired word of God?”, the whole class raised their hands.
When Dr. Ehrman then asked his students, “How many of you have read the Bible cover to cover?”, only a few handful of hands went up.
Then Dr. Ehrrman brilliantly commented to his students, “You would think that people who wholeheartedly believe that the Bible is the inspired words of God, they would want to know what their creator God has to say.”
This let me know that most Christians, and especially most Black Christians do not read their Bible. Most Black Christians are going by what other people tell them about the Bible, mostly from they’re their pastors, their family members, their friends and what their society says about the Bible. Most Black Christians are totally dependent on others to tell them what is written in Bible, Because most Black Christians don’t read the Bible for themselves.
Most Black Christians are totally dependent on others, especially their pastors, to tell them about the Bible, and to tell them what is written in the Bible.
Most Black Christians only want to read the Bible scriptures that their pastors has specially and purposefully selected for them to read; the Bible scriptures that makes them feel good, that makes them believe someone is going to come from the sky and fixed all their problems and make right all of their life’s pain and suffering.
