"There will be no election in 2027" - Dele Farotimi

Lawyer and political activist Dele Farotimi delivered an assessment of Nigeria’s democracy in this episode of 60 Minutes with Mr Kay. He argued that Nigeria’s core governance structure has failed ordinary citizens, questioned the independence of INEC and the judiciary, and claimed the 2027 race is being prepared as a “coronation” rather than a free contest. Farotimi also spoke on poverty, rule of law, ethnic divisions, failed institutions and why many Nigerians feel excluded from the democratic process.
