The General who LOOTED Nigeria ： Sani Abacha

⁣In June 1998, General Sani Abacha had ruled Nigeria for almost five years.

He controlled the military, ruled largely by decree and had jailed some of HIS most prominent political opponents.

Then, without warning, Abacha was dead.

The government announced that the 54-year-old Abacha had suffered a sudden heart attack at the presidential villa in Abuja. ..

Almost immediately, rumours began circulating about what had happened during his final hours.

But after his death, another story began to emerge.

Investigators started tracing money linked to Abacha and his associates through bank accounts around the world.

At first, the figures ran into hundreds of millions of dollars.
Then billions.

The money had passed through associates, companies and foreign financial institutions before ending up in accounts outside Nigeria.

And the method used to take some of that money was surprisingly simple.

He was the Head of State.

This is the story of Sani Abacha.
