Dr. T'Shaka is the author of The Political Legacy of Malcolm X a book that Dr. Asa Hilliard said "dwarfs all other writings on Malcolm X." This presentation is a speech delivered by Dr. Oba T'Shaka before the independent Black School he organized in 1972 and continues to operate in Oakland California, The African Children's Advanced Learning Center. This speech examines in depth Malcolm's political thoughts, along with the major influences in his life, and his historical significance.
This speech was delivered by Dr. Oba T'Shaka in Ft. Lauderdale Florida, before 4,000 Black people on the occasion of Dr. King's birthday. The speech was delivered on January 21, 1991 in the midst of the Gulf War, launched by George Herbert Walker Bush.
Dr. Oba T'Shaka was a March Marshall for Dr. King's Selma to Montgomery March, that produced Voter Rights legislation. Dr. T'Shaka, who led the San Francisco Freedom Movement, was arrested in Selma during those demonstrations.
