Namibia: A Country Divided | Free Documentary

Mumbai - A Tale of Contrasts: https://youtu.be/t6Rv1jwfGi4

Namibia has the third highest levels of income inequality in the world. 6% of the population own 70% of the land and here, the wounds of German Colonisation run deep. Between 1904 -1908, the Germans established concentration camps where the indigenous Herero and Nama people were interned. Up to 80% of them died in what Germany later recognised as the first genocide of the 20th Century. While the descendants of these victims, like Karvita, live on illegal settlements in constant fear of eviction, the descendants of these colonists continue to own most of the land and have no problem justifying their inheritance.

Most of Namibia’s vast natural resources are owned or controlled by foreigners. The diamond industry is dominated by DeBeers and the ruling Swapo party, widely seen as corrupt, is propped up by its historic ally: China. The construction and uranium industries are controlled by the Chinese and documents leaked in 2021 revealed that North Korea was illegally subcontracted to build the country’s State House.

Most of the country is sparsely populated, enabling nature to flourish. It’s home to one to one of the greatest wildlife populations in the world, including the only free roaming black rhinos. But these animals are constantly threatened by Chinese mafia while global warming is increasing desertification, threatening indigenous communities.

In December 2013, The Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) found Dr. Wouter Basson, guilty of unprofessional conduct and breaching medical ethics. This was for his role in heading the Apartheid Government's Chemical and Biological Warfare programme, called "Project Coast", which earned him the nickname, Dr. Death.
The HPCSA judgement has been seen as a victory by many, who felt that Basson had literally gotten away with murder for more than two decades. One such person is Yasmin Sooka, who was a commissioner during the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

In the early 80's President Bohta was becoming paranoid about the growing unrest in the townships Project Coast was hatched to develop a biological and chemical warfare Program which would not only suppress the townships but act as a weapon in war. Project Coast involved 200 staff and cost one hundred million rand.

The Roodeplaat Research Base, 15 km north of Pretoria was the centre for the research. The labs were top secret and highly protected. Inside scientists were working on the ultimate chemical, biological weapon which would be small, undetectable and cause paralysis of the muscles or death. Dr. Goosen who headed the biological Program says 'the weapon Placed in the wrong hands could have killed millions'. However luckily the project was disbanded in the early 90's when power was handed over to Mandela.

"Blue Note: A Story of Modern Jazz," directed by Julian Benedikt and released in 1997, chronicles the influential history of Blue Note Records. The documentary highlights the contributions of founders Alfred Lion and Francis Wolff, two German-Jewish immigrants who started the label in 1939 in New York. Despite language barriers and limited resources, they recorded numerous jazz legends such as Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, and Thelonious Monk.

The film combines concert footage, rare archival materials, and interviews with musicians and industry figures, painting a vivid picture of Blue Note's role in shaping modern jazz. It emphasizes the label's commitment to artistic excellence and its cultural impact, earning critical acclaim and several awards, including a Grammy nomination for Best Long Form Music Video in 1997 [[❞]](https://www.medici.tv/en/jazz/....blue-note-story-mode [[❞]](https://mubi.com/en/us/films/b....lue-note-a-story-of- [[❞]](https://www.euroarts.com/tv-li....cense/0567-blue-note

African people seem to be lacking a culture. This man would not have been allowed to walk around in Jean Jacaques Dessalines Haiti.
