Instead of neat rows of monoculture, forest gardens combine fruit and nut trees, shrubs, herbs, vines and perennial vegetables together in one seemingly wild setting. This type of agroforestry mimics natural ecosystems and uses the space available in a sustainable way. UK-based Martin Crawford is one of the pioneers of forest gardening. Starting out with a flat field in 1994, his land has been transformed into a woodland and serves as an educational resource for others interested in forest gardening. This short film by Thomas Regnault focuses on Crawford's forest garden, which is abundant, diverse, edible, and might be one answer to the future of food systems.

Dr. Kamau Rashid: What Malcolm X Still Teaches UsIn this episode of Wise The Dome TV, I sit down with Dr. Kamau Rashid to honor the revolutionary legacy of Malcolm X on the 100th anniversary of his birth. We talk about the early influences of Malcolm’s parents, the impact of Marcus Garvey’s ideology, and how that shaped Malcolm’s political consciousness. We also get into the founding of the Organization of Afro-American Unity, Malcolm’s transition out of the Nation of Islam, and his evolving internationalist vision. Dr. Rashid helps unpack Malcolm’s complex relationship with Elijah Muhammad, as well as how groups like the Black Panther Party and figures like Amiri Baraka extended Malcolm’s radical legacy. We also reflect on how mainstream scholars sometimes soften Malcolm’s politics—and why it’s important to recover and carry forward his revolutionary analysis today.
