Despite the Vatican's approval of blessings for same-sex couples, gay Catholics in Nigeria, where same-sex relationships are criminalised, anticipate slow acceptance.
People believe it might take 20 to 30 years for local bishops to embrace the Vatican's decision.
Conservative Catholics in African nations, including Nigeria, reject the ruling, asserting that blessing same-sex couples is optional.
Pope Francis defends the declaration, emphasising inclusiveness, but Father Patrick Alumunku from Nigeria's capital, Abuja, clarifies that it doesn't necessarily imply eventual acceptance of same-sex unions in the church.
