African History Series-African Empires of Ghana and Mali
In 2010, fossilized fish was uncovered 250 miles west of the Nile river, where the Sahara Desert was as arid as ever. This chance finding led scientists to believe there could’ve been sea where the Sahara is now, so they conducted a geological survey of the area. And it yielded unexpected results: they found evidence of something huge under the sands, and it wasn’t part of any sea at all.For several months, the research continued with GPS equipment on land, and later, when all the ground data was collected, scientists took a look at the area from a satellite. The view was astounding! Actually, in this area, ancient human settlements had been found previously, and now the researchers finally had the answer as to why exactly they had chosen those spots to live. By the way, did you know that whales had once been land animals that evolved into marine ones? We’ll talk about that too!#brightside

Captain Ibrahim Traoré stepped off the aircraft, and time in Burkina Faso held its breath. But this wasn’t just about his safe return. This was about what came with him and who came to meet him. The Prime Minister was there, but so was someone else. The Russian Ambassador. Standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the Burkinabé high command. That’s not protocol. That’s a message. And the message was clear: Russia is not a distant friend anymore. It is now physically present in the political theatre of Burkina Faso.
As the African Diaspora saying goes, "I am because we are, and we are because I am."

Aquaponics combines two growing methods, aquaculture and hydroponics, to create a self-contained, well-balanced ecosystem. Fish are fed and raised in a tank and as gravity pulls the wastewater through a hydroponic garden, bacteria feed on the waste, breaking it down into essential nutrients for the plants to grow. The system then returns the cleaned water back to the fish reservoir so the process can begin again.
In this episode, Charles Collins shares his backyard aquaponic and hydroponic gardens where he's able to grow tilapia, leafy greens, peppers, herbs and so much more, all in the suburban desert. Together we grow!

Elon Musk was born in 1971 in Johannesburg, South Africa, and raised in a wealthy family under the country's racist apartheid laws. Musk's family history reveals ties to apartheid and neo-Nazi politics. We speak with Chris McGreal, reporter for The Guardian, to understand how Musk's upbringing shaped his worldview, as well as that of his South African-raised colleague Peter Thiel, a right-wing billionaire who co-founded PayPal alongside Musk. "Musk lived what can only be described as a neocolonial life," said McGreal. "If you were a white South African in that period and you had any money at all, you lived with servants at your beck and call."

While most of her neighbors are either livestock or crop farmers, Karen Ndunge has concentrated her energies on a farming venture few are interested in.
Chili is an all-season crop that can be planted at any time of the year. However, with the ongoing rains all over the country, farmers can take advantage to plant the crop.
Fresh green chilli is rich in vitamin C, an important element that improves the immune system. It is used to make food spices.

"New Rhumba" is the seventh track on Miles Davis's "Miles Ahead"
Brought to you by Vodou: Theology Of Liberation https://bit.ly/3wHMhkK
This film is about the Cosmological principles enshrined in Haitian Vodou as a syncretic theology rooted in West Africa and how it shapes the perspectives and worldview of its practitioners, shedding light on why it was the essential ideological foundation off which the first Black Republic in the Western Hemisphere was founded.
It throws light on its fundamental tenets and concepts to illustrate how it afforded the galvanization and organization of enslaved Africans of different backgrounds spiritually, socially, politically, and militarily to secure the most incredible victory ever recorded in Modern times; the sole example to date of successful revolutionary Pan-Africanism in action.
It also explores the stigmatization of Vodou through the memetic constructions attributed to the label Voodoo and its fear-mongering depictions in the Media. It explores Vodou theology as a sacred science of Nature and the positive impact it holds for practitioners and Afrofuturism.
