As the world's agriculture and food systems face a crisis of disappearing seed diversity, a new short film tells the story of how African farming communities and organisations are reviving traditional seed diversity across the continent, and resisting mounting corporate pressure to use industrialised seed and farming methods.
This film is the follow up to our landmark 2012 film Seeds of Freedom, narrated by Jeremy Irons. Find out more and watch more films at seedsoffreedom.info

More about Seeds of Sovereignty:
Seeds of Sovereignty shows that farmers around the world have saved and bred an unimaginable wealth of seed diversity to meet many different challenges, but as corporate seed and chemicals replace farmers' own ingenuity, this diversity is steadily disappearing. Reviving farmers' in-depth knowledge of how to save and adapt seed is critical, and the film is aimed to encourage others to do so by setting out the key stages in this process.
Through interviews and stunning cinematography from across the continent, the 35-minute film unpacks an approach aligned to the principles of the growing global food sovereignty movement and provides a guide for anyone looking to revive traditional, diversity rich, seed and farming systems around the world.
Seeds of Sovereignty is the follow-up to the 2012 film Seeds of Freedom, narrated by British actor Jeremy Irons. Seeds of Freedom challenged the global corporate agenda to control and monopolise the food and farming sector, most particularly through genetically modified seed. It has achieved global success and is used by anti-GM campaigners across the globe.

This video is about how Nigerians are still moving to Nigeria even now. Iveoma chats with Samson Nwakanma, founder of The Returnees, Uriel Oputa, Media Personality/Entrepreneur, and Yemmie Lawal, founder of Yemmie Chocolate.

Nigerians are still moving home to invest in the country. To chase their Nigerian dreams. They are invested in the outcome and willing to sink time, money, energy, and hope into Nigeria, into their businesses and careers.

It’s inspiring that they acted on the pull they feel to Nigeria to act as investors in the country. Recently, we attended a Returnees focused networking event in Lagos and chatted with some Nigerian returnees.

As described in the book,
Into the Fray: How NBC's Washington Documentary Unit Reinvented the News By Tom Mascaro

https://www.amazon.com/Into-Fr....ay-Washington-Docume

The Science of Spying, marked the arrival of Bob Rogers as a field reporter-producer. The program aired May 4, 1965, and tracked the roots of U.S. covert operations back to the 1950s, providing a stark account of clandestine initiatives in a time before public disclosures, congressional investigations, and Hollywood movies made the 1970s a difficult time to be an American spy. The "Pentagon Papers," the Pike and Church Committees, and thrillers such as Three Days of the Condor eventually revealed the CIA's complicity in assassination plots and interna-tional meddling, which Yates and Rogers had already seen up close. NBC management stood firm when The Science of Spying attracted criti-cism. Ad reps from Batten, Barton, Durstine & Osborn (BBD&O) screened it and advised their client B. F. Goodrich Company to withdraw.31 BBD&O issued a statement saying the program violated the Goodrich advertising policy "in that it treats a controversial public issue in a way which may do harm to the government of the United States?" NBC countered that the documentary "fell within the broad outlines of the program policy origi-nally submitted to and accepted by the B. F. Goodrich agency, BBD&O."33 The CIA watched the program and tracked subsequent reactions in the national press. Viewers wrote to President Johnson complaining NBC News had given America's enemies negative propaganda.34 Yates may have antici-pated some adverse reactions to the program, but he never expected to be frightened by what he discovered. "

(tribal) centered system... do or die time...

Ọbádélé Kambon

This talk occurred at Malcolm X College on December 27, 2012 at the City-Wide Kwanzaa Celebration. The first two minutes are missing, but this is the bulk of what I shared. The main points that are missing are that Kujichagulia is ultimately about our capacity to define reality, not through words, but through the arduous work of social transformation. I also stated that Baba Hannibal incessantly cautioned us against imbibing the opiate of self-deception, not deluding ourselves into thinking that belief was sufficient when action is the ultimate expression of our ideals. Lastly, I used Amenemhat's Weheme Mesu in ancient Kemet (Egypt) and the struggles of the African Maroons in the Western Hemisphere as models of Kujichagulia--Africans defining their own reality. — at Malcolm X College.

ANCIENT ORIGINS OF PAN-AFRICANISM

Most people believe that the Pan-Afrikan Movement is little more than 100 years old. Most people also believe that Pan-Afrikanism is merely an invention dreamed up by diasporans; and that it is not indigenous to Afrikans on the continent. In this exclusive interaction we explode both myths as Bro. Obadele Kambon presents his ground breaking research.
