Dr. Kamau Kambon gives advice about talking to other Black people who are highly confused about racism/white supremacy.

"If you do not understand the system of racism/white supremacy—what it is and how it works—everything else you know or think you know-- will only confuse you."
Neely Fuller Jr

Residents of Nairobi’s slums who can’t pay their rent get evicted and end up on the street. Over 90 percent of these tenants live in rented corrugated-metal shacks owned by slumlords with terrible reputations. The slumlords of Nairobi mercilessly exploit the poorest of poor. One young man was shot and killed over five months’ rent, while Agnes Muhavishe, who tries to make ends meet by producing and selling soap, was recently thrown out of her shack after falling six months behind with her payments. Her husband does odd jobs to feed their children. Many of slumlord Peter Chege’s shacks are now vacant, as the COVID-19 pandemic has forced many tenants struggling to pay their rent out of their homes. He sees himself as a loser in the crisis.

Long before the likes of Thomas Sankara, Robert Mugabe and Nelson Mandela burst onto the international scene as the faces of anti-imperialism in Africa, one man stood head and shoulders above his peers as the leading political voice and the very embodiment of Africa’s struggle against colonialism.

Ghana’s first president, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, took the world by storm as he led his nation to become the first black African nation to gain independence from the European powers. But just as Nkrumah’s revolutionary leadership in Ghana, would trigger a wave of independence movements all across sub-saharan Africa, his gradual decline and sudden overthrow would also become a familiar story across virtually all of Africa’s newly independent states.

This is the story of how Dr Kwame Nkrumah went from being Ghana’s messiah and a faultless hero to a political pariah, whose ultimate demise would lead to wild celebrations in the streets by the very same people that had once loved and adored him.

In one of the remotest parts of Africa, the Ethiopian tribe of Kwegu people live along the great Omo river. This documentary takes us deep into the territories of the Kwegu and Mursi tribes, introducing to the audience a rare glimpse of their daily life and special traditions.

The documentary series “Disappearing World” was originally broadcasted between 1970-1975.
As an anthropological landmark of its time, the series tells the story of traditional communities endangered by the modern world’s progressions.
The series stands as a historical document of daily life in remote and threatened societies, such as the Cuiva, Embera and Panare Indians of Colombia, the nomadic Tuareg of the Sahara, the Kurdish Dervishes and the Meo of China.
