Lyrics:
I been walkin' with my face turned to the sun
Weight on my shoulders, bullet in my gun
Oh, I got eyes in the back of my head just in case I have to run
I do what I can when I can while I can for my people
While the clouds roll back and the stars fill the night
That's when I'm gonna stand up
Take my people with me
Together we are going to a brand new home
Far across the river
Can you hear freedom calling?
Calling me to answer
Gonna keep on keepin' on
I can feel it in my bones
Early in the mornin' before the sun begins to shine
Gonna start movin' towards that separating line
I'm wading through muddy waters, you know I got a made-up mind
And I don't mind if I lose any blood on the way to salvation
And I'll fight with the strength that I got until I die
So I'm gonna stand up
Take my people with me
Together we are going to a brand new home
Far across the river
Can you hear freedom calling?
Calling me to answer
Gonna keep on keepin' on
And I know what's around the bend
Might be hard to face 'cause I'm alone
And I just might fail, but Lord knows I tried
Sure as stars fill up the sky
Stand up
Take my people with me
Together we are going to a brand new home
Far across the river
Can you hear freedom calling?
Calling me to answer
Gonna keep on keepin' on
I'm gonna stand up
Take my people with me
Together we are going to a brand new home
Far across the river
Do you hear freedom calling?
Calling me to answer
Gonna keep on keepin' on
I'm gonna stand up
Take my people with me
Together we are going to a brand new home
Far across the river
I hear freedom calling?
Calling me to answer
Gonna keep on keepin' on
I can feel it in my bones
I go to prepare a place for you

from original source: Boukman's Prayer:The God who created the earth, who created the sun that gives us light. The God who holds up the ocean, who makes the thunder roar. Our God who has ears to hear. You who are hidden in the clouds, who watch us fromwhere you are. You see all that the white has made us suffer. The white man's god asks him to commit crimes. But the God within us wants to do good. Our God, who is so good, so just, He orders us to avenge our wrongs. It's He who will direct our arms and bring us the victory. It's He who will assist us. We all should throw away the image of the white man's god who is so pitiless.Listen to the voice for liberty that sings in all our hearts. -- Boukman's Prayer at the Bwa Kayiman Vodun ceremony, the August 14, 1791 call to action that launched the Haitian Revolution, which started on August 22, 1791. --- get rid of the European religion and idea of God....we are god
The aim of this study is to present historical sources that provide Afrikan-centered perspectives on what Israel was in relationship to kmtyw ‘Black people/Ancient Egyptians.” This study draws from ancient and classical historical texts that 1) identify the expulsion of the Hyksos with the Exodus story and 2) document the manner in which that expulsion took place. We find that there are significant differences in narratives regarding the nature of the Exodus/Expulsion, however, many people are only familiar with a single biblical story. In conclusion, as students and as scholars, it behooves us to research into primary historical sources to transcend the danger of a single story.
