Bla Xit family its kicking off in the UK since the 6th Annual Reparations March this years when thousands of Africans in the Diaspora marched demanding reparations from the British Government to repair the damage done to Africans and Africa. Black people in England are getting angry about the lack of action taken to gain reparatory justice. Proud Rastafarian Professor, Poet Laurete Author , world renown Musician, TV Host Actor and Free West Papua activist, Multiple award winning Benjamin Zephaniah. Who is no stranger to controversy and was hailed a hero in the black community in England when he refused and rejected an award from the Empire the Queen. He appeared on mainstream TV this week in the UK and he talked about hoe he originated from West Africa but did not know where and Reparations, he said he was taken. His words rang out when he said his language was taken, his culture. This clip went viral and we saw it on social media and we wanted to discuss it and have a dialogue.

Climate change is less a concept or a new phenomenon than it is an industry. The climate is always changing and so "climate change" is an oxymoron and a fiction. And if the climate is always changing, then I want to suggest is the earth and its climatic features is not losing its mind--that is, going insane--but through the prism of ancestry, the ancestral and natural forces of nature have coalesced with climatic features. In other words, climate features are ongoing expressions of immaterial forces, woven in the fabric of our world.

As the Black Lives Matter movement spreads internationally, we’re looking today at one of the world’s most forgotten Black communities. In Mexico, Black people make up around one percent of the population. CGTN's Alasdair Baverstock tells us in the first of two reports, equal rights isn’t the only battle they have on their hands.

During colonial times, many Africans were traded for slavery in the Americas. When Abraham Lincoln abolished slavery, many started searching for their roots. For years, Rastafarians from Jamaica have gone to live in Shashemene Ethiopia, a land that the late Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia gave to them. Today, many are happy to be home.

There are 1.5 billion small family farmers, men and women, who live and work on around 475 million family farms, that are no more than 2 hectares in size. Monika reminds us up to 80% of all food consumed in the world are grown by these farmers, and these people are at the forefront of our fight for food security in the face of climate change.

Monika Barthwal-Datta is a Senior Lecturer in International Security in the School of Social Sciences, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, UNSW. Growing up, Monika lived and studied in a number of countries, including India (where she comes from), Japan, New Zealand, Uganda and ultimately the UK where she completed her postgraduate studies. While studying for her MScEcon in Security Studies (Aberystwyth University) and then her PhD in International Security (Royal Holloway College, University of London), Monika worked as a freelance broadcast journalist for the BBC World Service Radio. She moved to Sydney in late 2010 to take up a two-year research fellowship on Food Security in Asia at the Centre for International Security Studies, University of Sydney, and moved to UNSW Australia in mid-2012. Monika’s research focuses on international security from ‘non-traditional’ perspectives that prioritise the needs and concerns of those who are least powerful and marginalised.
