One of my favorite plants to use in Permaculture. Keep in mind there are comfrey plants that spread and can be very invasive. Be sure you are using a variety that does not spread so you can manage. Here is a podcast that debunks the idea that comfrey is not edible: http://www.thesurvivalpodcast.....com/episode-1371-all
I'm very passionate about getting people into plants and permaculture! Share this passion with others and lets get back to the nurturing the earth and each other!

Description:
“Through its inside, personal and genuine view on the movement the documentary aims to inspire people worldwide on a more sustainable lifestyle embedded in the context of Rastafari.”
The documentary film “Rastafari as a sustainable Lifestyle: Messages from Jamaica” aims to show an in-depth inside view on how the philosophy of Rastafari offers a sustainable lifestyle. The need for a sustainable lifestyle is as global as the movement’s principles of “equal rights and justice for all”. Due to the movement’s global spread (particularly through Reggae) and influence (particularly on Africa and marginalized people), there is a lot of potential in convincing more and more people to live more sustainable and to educate them about sustainability.
The film tries in every aspect to be of anthropological nature: At no time, ‘outside’ voices on Rastafari about Rastafari can be heard. Instead, only the inside perspectives from people of the movement are expressed. Also, the film is inspired by Rastafari, and therefore it is supposed to not only entertain, but educate! It therefore merges into a piece of ‘EDUtainment’. The educational part about the need for a sustainable lifestyle gets highlighted through the only non-Rastafari character in the film, Dr. Kevon Rhiney (Geography Department, UWI), who is educating the audience about climate change, it’s drivers, possible projections and behaviors of a more sustainable lifestyle. This lays the foundation for anyone not aware of the seriousness of climate change and the urgent need for people to live more sustainable.
The choice of the rest of the characters in the movie tries to reflect the diversity of the Rastafari movement regarding social background, age and occupation: Amongst others the Social Entrepreneur specialist Dr. Kadamawe Knife (39), Kemetic Yoga teacher Iyabinghi Ashanti Tafari (50), music producer Jamal Layne (23), and Singer Kiddus I (68) all have an urgent concern about mother earth and the future of humanity. Throughout the movie the Rastafari characters ‘reason’ on nature, community, ‘Livity’ - approach to work and life - and the current wrongs of Babylon. At the same time they stand as specific examples of people who live in harmony with nature and who develop sustainable businesses ideas and concepts. By teaching ‘peace, love, and unity’, Rastafari promotes the unification of all people to work together for a balanced world.
*we don't agree with burning techniques to clear land or fertilize it for agricultural purpose. please stay away from burning your land as this causes far more damage then good. rather stick to e.g. composting and mulching to fertilize your land, and also check out PERMACULTURE for a holistic design system*

Drinking coffee is a daily activity for many people across the world. Whether you use an electric coffee maker, a French press or any other type of coffee brewing method, you may be wondering how you can avoid throwing all those spent coffee grounds into the garbage.
Here are 6 ways to recycle your used coffee grounds.
1.Add coffee grounds to your compost. One of the simplest ways to use leftover grounds is to add them to the rest of your compost. In addition to providing extra organic matter, coffee grounds are able to speed up the decomposing process in compost. Coffee grounds make excellent “green” matter as they are rich in nitrogen. Also, beneficial worms may be attracted to your compost with the addition of old coffee grounds. If you add a lot of coffee grounds to your compost, balance it out by adding some “brown” matter like dry leaves, twigs, newspaper, straw, corn husks, sawdust, and so on.
2.Absorb Food Odors.
Used coffee grounds can be used much like baking soda for absorbing food odors in the refrigerator and freezer. Just load up a small open container with your old grounds, place it in the back of the fridge, then forget about it for a couple of weeks while you collect more grounds. As an added bonus, after you remove smelly old grounds from the refrigerator or freezer, you can then toss them on the compost pile or use them as fertilizer!
3.Fertilize Your Garden.
If you grow azaleas, hydrangeas, rhododendrons, camellias, roses, or other acid-loving plants, then used coffee is the fertilizer for you! Mix your old grounds with dead grass clippings, brown leaves, or dry straw to neutralize some of the acidity, then spread them around your plants. Used coffee grounds add nitrogen and potassium to the soil as well as boosts magnesium which all plants need to stay healthy.
4.Use grounds to deter pests. Slugs and snails can chew-up your most prized plants, but they are not fond of coffee grounds. Sprinkle a handful of grounds around the bases of plants you want to protect. If you're worried about increasing the acidity of the soil, make a solid ring of grounds farther away from the base. Coffee ground can also be used to keep fluffy away from your delicate plants.
5.Exfoliate Skin.
Coffee grounds make an excellent exfoliating body scrub! Just add used grounds to a bit of warm water or your favorite all-natural oil (coconut oil works great!) Then scrub your skin from head to foot to remove all of those icky dead skin cells.
6.Cellulite Treatment.
cellulite has many causes and for every cause there are at least a dozen “cures”
simple mix of used coffee grounds and warm. Use this scrub for ten minutes twice per week on any areas affected by cellulite. Results should start to become apparent within four weeks of steady treatment.

Five incarcerated people in Alabama are fighting to push forward a lawsuit, Stanley v. Ivey, challenging the state's power to punish prisoners who resist forced labor. Despite a state constitutional provision abolishing slavery that was passed in 2022 by referendum, Montgomery County Circuit Court dismissed the plaintiffs' lawsuit, arguing Governor Kay Ivey and Alabama Department of Corrections Commissioner John Hamm were protected by state sovereign immunity. Emily Early, Associate Director of the Center for Constitutional Rights' Southern Regional Office, joins Rattling the Bars to discuss the lawsuit and the plaintiffs' ongoing fight to have their case appealed.

The President of Sri Lanka started pushing to build a new port in a small town at the south end of Sri Lanka because ambitious projects like this make you look like a good, caring politician. The only problem was that everyone, including their own government studies estimated that the port wouldn’t be profitable. But then the President announced that the project had been greenlighted - with help from none other than China.
The port opened in 2012, and the forecasts were right - no one was interested in using this new port. And it’s finances were in the hole. So the President went back to China for another loan, this time for $757 million. So what did they do? They took out another loan from China, this time for $1 billion dollars, to help pay off that upcoming debt payment. It’s safe to say that Sri Lanka found itself at the mercy of the Chinese government. It was drowning in debt payments and was left with an expensive port no one wanted to use. And now, China owns 85% of that port and managed to squeeze 15,000 acres of land around that port as well.
Debt traps, debt diplomacy is nothing new. China is probably just taking a page out of the original master at this game: the US. Why did the US go through all this effort to indebt these Less-Developed Countries, or LDCs? Simple: when you’re a global superpower, you need a lot of resources to stay on top: oil, energy, raw materials, nations under your influence so you can call them up when you need something like votes at the UN, and so on.
Today, China is in a similar position - they’re desperate for energy, money, and resources to continue their astronomical growth to the top.Who knows in the long run what will happen with China's colonialism. China has the ability to be forceful when needed, especially in their sphere. History would say China will follow the old model, but things have radically changed before. China is making mistakes but continues to sell these projects.
