Dr. Gad Barnea is not your typical Bible scholar—he’s reshaping how we view ancient Judaism and the Hebrew Bible, tackling one of its core assumptions: that Moses and his story are older than the 4th century BCE. As a Lecturer in Jewish History and Biblical Studies at the University of Haifa and a Research Fellow at the École biblique et archéologique Française, Dr. Barnea focuses on Yahwism under the “Iranian Age of Empires,” exploring how Persian rule and Zoroastrianism likely shaped early Judaism, suggesting the Moses narrative may have emerged far later than commonly thought.Beyond texts, Barnea has uncovered a groundbreaking ostracon from Elephantine, the earliest known Jewish curse text, and evidence of a Jewish priestess—a revelation about ancient Jewish rituals. Very soon after the birth of the first written language - cuneiform - ancient Egypt developed its own writing: the hieroglyphic script, immortalised in the Rosetta Stone kept in the British Museum, which consists of a single royal edict, dated 196 BC, written in the hieroglyphic, demotic and Greek alphabetic scripts.

Andrew Robinson is the author of more than twenty-five books, issued by leading general and academic publishers.
