More African Americans are heading to college these days but a new study finds that too many are in low earning majors.

A study by Georgetown University's Center on Education and the Workforce notes that African Americans who got Bachelor's Degrees in STEM fields science, technology, engineering and mathematics can earn up to 50 percent more than those who majored in arts, psychology or social work.

Retired psychologist, former Dean of Students at the University of Nairobi, former Senior Diversity Officer at Penn State University, and former Chair of Nairobi Professional Women Association, Dr. Wanjiru Kamau, discusses the impact of the encounter between Europeans and Africans and the rise of Mau Mau. She comments on the psychological impacts of colonialism and explains how Europeans took advantage of African ubuntu and generosity to colonise. Kevin C. MacDonald is Professor of African Archaeology at the UCL African Studies Research Centre (https://www.ucl.ac.uk/african-studies) where he has taught since completing his PhD at Cambridge in 1994. He has worked in Mali for more than twenty years on field projects ranging from the Late Stone Age to the historic era, principally in the Gourma, Méma, Haute Vallée and Segou regions. His analytical specialities include archaeozoology, ceramics lithics and the excavation of earthen structures. He is currently co-editor of the Routledge journal Azania: Archaeological Research in Africa.
