This is a clip from a speech by our great #PanAfrikan Ancestor - Baba Amos Wilson.

In recent months, a clip of Amos Wilson has been doing the rounds as leaders & advocates of the #ADOS hashtag attempt to use his words to justify negative sentiments towards "Black Immigrants" to the USA.

We are all entitled to our Political Ideology. What we are not entitled to do is distort the legacies of our Ancestors. Our Ancestors deserve to be represented by us, for exactly what they stood for. The deliberate distortion of the legacy of our great #PanAfrikan Ancestor is unfortunate... and it must be corrected.

This clip is an attempt to put the legacy of Amos Wilson in proper context for those who may be new to his work.

Gold Dust: Under Blaise Compaore's leadership, Burkina Faso's unregulated gold rush has had a devastating effect on mining conditions. This report digs deep into the industry, exposing the corruption beneath Compaore's ruling.

Millions of people - including children as young as fourteen - mine in an unregulated industry for a few golden grams of hope. Marcel toils underground to support his family - but without the glittering rewards promised. “We all have hope, we hope to earn” he says, but "they rob us here...They treat the miner like an animal." 17-year old Soumaele has been mining for two years. His thin body can go to even deeper than the older men, to places where the air is impossible to breathe and the tunnels are likely to collapse. Gold promises a great deal, but in an anarchic industry, teacher Soungalo Hema fears for the future of children like Soumaele: "You try and save them", she says, "but a lot of the time it’s in vain. I ask myself 'what will happen to all of us?'"

Huawei is China's largest electronics company, and is specifically targeted by Western sanctions. The sanctions are intended to both deny Huawei access to the fastest semiconductors, and to prevent Huawei from selling products in American and European markets.

While most of the recent headlines involving Huawei relate to their introduction of smartphones that were thought to be impossible for them, Huawei is first and foremost a telecommunications hardware company. And recent developments in those market segments have only strengthened Huawei across the world.

Perhaps most ironically of all, Huawei has benefited from being locked out of the North American telecommunications market, as the United States has seen major declines in investment and upgrades.

Huawei is far ahead of global rivals in the telecom space, and is doubling down on its efforts to roll out 5.5G technology across the Global South countries. As the company does so, it is a boon to thousands of other Chinese manufacturers, and producers of electronics and other gear that runs on Huawei networks.

Dr. Rebecca Futo Kennedy presents on the Antiquity and Middle Ages Channel on the differences between Afrocentrism and Eurocentrism.

Join us in this thought-provoking video as we delve into the contrasting ideologies of Eurocentrism and Afrocentrism, exploring their impact on our understanding of history and culture. Eurocentrism, a widely dominant view, emphasizes the achievements and contributions of European cultures, often overlooking the perspectives and contributions of other cultures. Afrocentrism, on the other hand, focuses on centering and celebrating African history, culture, and achievements, challenging Eurocentric narratives that have historically marginalized Africa and its diaspora. We delve into the historical context that shaped these perspectives, examining the legacy of colonization, slavery, and the struggle for cultural recognition. Eurocentrism tends to portray European history as the pinnacle of human progress and often ignores or minimizes the contributions of non-European civilizations. Afrocentrism seeks to rectify this by highlighting the rich history and achievements of African civilizations such as Ancient Egypt, Mali, and Great Zimbabwe, showcasing their impact on world history and culture. We explore how Eurocentrism has influenced academia, education, and media, often shaping our understanding of world events and perpetuating stereotypes and biases. Afrocentrism challenges this narrative, striving to reclaim and center African perspectives, voices, and experiences. The video examines the ways in which Eurocentrism and Afrocentrism have influenced art, literature, and social movements, shaping cultural identity and promoting inclusivity. We discuss the importance of recognizing and embracing multiple perspectives, fostering a more balanced and nuanced understanding of history, and appreciating the diverse contributions of different cultures. Join us as we engage in a respectful exploration of these contrasting ideologies, aiming to encourage dialogue, understanding, and the celebration of cultural diversity in a global society. Subscribe now to broaden your perspective and embark on this enlightening journey into the world of Eurocentrism and Afrocentrism
