The Azanian giant. From "Hugh Masakela presents The Chisa Years 1965-1975'
Millions of tons of annual agricultural trade is now being conducted outside the US dollar, and within the new BRICS framework.
This represents a tectonic shift in global finance, as the dominant trading hubs of New York, Chicago, and London are replaced by a multipolar system of bilateral trades using national currencies and non-USD-denominated pricing and contracts.
The already huge volumes of trade in ag, energy, and raw materials are destroying price discovery in global markets. Decisionmakers and executives in Western companies are unable to see markets, nor can they know what parties are driving demand, nor which suppliers are emerging to meet that demand. Our senior-level business managers and planners are flying blind, and only after realizing giant losses we learn that we are now suppliers only of last resort: the BRICS countries and their allied countries across the world are producing and trading at prices far below our cost of production.

When oil was discovered in Ghana in 2007, the country began to dream big. It dreamed that the ‘black gold’ would bring economic upswing and long-awaited prosperity to its nation. But what happens when dreams and globalization meet? The global economy continues to rely on oil — but the so-called ‘black gold’ is becoming scarce. If a country has oil, so we tend to believe, it has all it needs to become a wealthy country. When oil was discovered in Ghana in 2007, Ghanaians also believed that economic prosperity would soon sweep over their country. By 2010, drilling had started. Ghana was determined to do better than Nigeria, a country that exports oil, but has to import gasoline. This documentary, shot over a period of ten years, is a case study of globalization. Filmed in a coastal region where people lived off fishing and rubber cultivation for decades, it shows the impact the oil discovery has had on their lives. Would the promises come true? Would the ‘black gold’ bring modern life and progress, paved streets, electricity and jobs even to small villages? Filmmaker Elke Sasse and journalist Andrea Stäritz spent ten years documenting the developments on Ghana’s western coast. Nigerian animator Ebele Okoye adds her personal perspective through art, as a citizen of a nation hit by the oil curse.

IAS Film Series: Thomas Sankara - The Upright Man
Super-rare LP by Dr. Ben ( December 31, 1918 – March 19, 2015), recorded in 1971.
Liner notes:
For many years, the general public and the Black Community in particular, lived in the midst of a virtual desert of non-information about ancient African history. By chance, a man or woman here and there would glimpse the dim past, discover its treasures, and understand its meaning. But today, during the period of Black Se!f-Discovery, this is changing. Today, the covers are being pulled off the past in a manner that will spark all sorts of reactions. Some will try to walk away in disbelief. Many others will find their eyes opening so wide to a new encounter with the Truth that their lives will never be the same again. Never! Your life won't be the same again either, once the needle touches these grooves. What you have in your hands is a mind blower! It is history—Black people's history, our history—revealed in rare form. Check it out for yourself: Was Moses a Black man? Did the early Christian church start in Africa? Is it true that the queen of England has African ancestors? Did Black scholars, in fact, help to create the religion of Islam? Who, indeed, first wrote and spoke the words, "Man, Know Thyself?" Check it out for yourself. The Committee for Student Rights, Inc., in response to strong public demand, produced this two-record album of a major lecture delivered by the renowned historian-philosopher, Dr. Yosef Ben-Jochannan. The Committee captured just a portion of the impact of Dr. Ben-Jochannan's speech before an overflow audience that day when the Truth of African people's glorious1iistory took them by surprise. . . . The speaker is an Ethiopia-born Black scholar who spent part of his early life in the West Indies. He has been a researcher into the past of the African race since the 1930's. His travels have taken him to four continents. The founder of Akebu-lan Book Publishing Company, Dr. Ben-Jochannan is the author of an impressive list of publications, including Black Man of the Nile, Africa-Mother of Western Civilization, African Origins of the Major Western Religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam), Cul-tural Genocide in the Black Studies Curriculum, We, the Black Jews, and others. He authored summary works called, "A Chronology of the Bible," and "The Black Man's North and East Africa." Herein lies a golden opportunity for you to get "turned on" to yourself in a short time. Freeing Black people means freeing yourself, and to free yourself you must take back your mind. Knowing YOUR/OUR history is the first step in this liberation process. Black Man and Black Woman: WAKE UP! Osei Yaw Akoto (Harold McKelton)

Decades after the European powers carved up the African continent for their own imperial needs, Africa is undergoing a new wave of resource and strategic exploitation – some are calling it the new scramble for Africa.
The United States is increasing its footprint across Africa with AFRICOM, fighting terrorism and ensuring stability are the trumpeted motivations. Resource security is a more hushed objective. But it is not just about the US.
During the last decade, China's trade with Africa not only caught up with America's, it has more than doubled it.The new battle for Africa does not deploy strong-arm tactics, it is now a soft power game: economic and humanitarian aid, interest-free loans, preferential trade agreements and investments in infrastructure are currency across a continent that is, for the world's established and emerging powers, seemingly up for grabs.
India, Brazil and Russia are all invested in Africa's present and future, and old imperial powers like France are fixing to retain their loosening grip on the riches of former colonies. So what does all this mean for Africa and Africans?Empire travels to Kenya to examine the continent at the centre of the world as it is courted, cajoled and carved up by global powers to its East and West.
This study aims to address combating cultural imperialism and cultural misorientation to preserve Abibifoɔ 'Black People' intangible cultural heritage noting that the priority must be on indigenous Abibifoɔ 'Black People' to push our own agenda. The study takes the 2019 UNESCO-ICM Open School as a case study in terms of substantive efforts (or lack thereof) to combat cultural imperialism and cultural misorientation. The study addresses matters of terminology, the implications of using the equal sign between Abibifoɔ 'Black People' and aborɔfoɔ concepts, cultural misorientation and disorientation, false narratives and alien-self/anti-self-disorders, soft power, what must be done in terms of combating these ills. The study concludes with a section addressing the way forward for the Abibifoɔ 'Black People' Warrior Tradition and Abibifoɔ 'Black People' Combat Scientists in light of the preservation of our intangible cultural heritage.
