The son of an American woman of Dutch heritage and a Navajo man, Mark Charles offers a unique perspective on three of the most misinterpreted words in American History. Written in the Papal Bulls of the 15th Century, embedded in our founding documents in the 18th Century, codified as legal precedent in the 19th Century and referenced by the Supreme Court in the 20th and 21st Centuries, the Doctrine of Discovery has been used throughout the history of the United States to keep "We the People" from including all the people. Mark Charles is a dynamic and thought-provoking public speaker, writer, and consultant. The son of an American woman (of Dutch heritage) and a Navajo man, he speaks with insight into the complexities of American history regarding race, culture, and faith in order to help forge a path of healing and conciliation for the nation. Mark serves as the Washington DC correspondent and regular columnist for Native News Online and is the author of the popular blog "Reflections from the Hogan." Mark is a founding partner of a national conference for Native students called “Would Jesus Eat Frybread?” Mark’s forthcoming book on the Doctrine of Discovery entitled Truth be Told is being published by InterVarsity Press and will be available in 2019. He also established @Afrikan World Info Systems, a publishing company dedicated to knowledge production, specific to the needs of the Global Afrikan Community. Few, if any, were more prolific in providing a more scientific analysis of the plight of Black people, and putting forward tangible programmes. Shortly before the publishing of Blueprint for Black Power, Nana Wilson passed away - 14th January 1995. He was on the verge of developing a credit union and other institutions around the community businesses and organisations he was involved in.

Nana Amos Wilson laid a Blueprint. He did his work. Now we honour him the best way we know how - profiling those who are building on this illustrious legacy, engaging the Blueprint in thought and action.

In Burkina Faso, there are reports that 200 soldiers have been killed in attacks by an Al Qaeda affiliate.
It happened in the northern province of Loroum. The attacks follow an earlier assault in which 60 soldiers were killed at a military post in the same province.
Nearly half of Burkina Faso is not under government control.
Attacks from armed groups linked to al Qaeda are on the rise, not only in Burkina Faso but other African countries in the Sahel.
