Islam's Hidden History of Slavery || Arab-Islam Slave Trade: Whitewashed and Forgotten
Islam's Hidden History of Slavery || Arab-Islam Slave Trade: Whitewashed and Forgotten Kwabena Ofori Osei 111 Views • 2 years ago

We always talk about how Europeans enslaved immense numbers of Africans. We usually don't talk about the parties actually involved or not involved in that slave trade. What we also don't talk about are other slave trades that were even bigger and lasted longer, like the Eastern (Islamic) Slave Trade.

Western media choose selective moral outrage, and while Western schools teach their youth about their own faults, the Islamic World is far from being honest. Therefore I choose to talk about this dark history, and I hope to spread more awareness so that more and more people can know and talk about the cruelties of the Islamic world.

The Kingdom of Benin (Edo Empire) | West Africa's Longest Lasting State
The Kingdom of Benin (Edo Empire) | West Africa's Longest Lasting State Kwabena Ofori Osei 70 Views • 3 years ago

South of the Sahara Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playli....st?list=PLivC9TMdGnL Kingdom of Benin, also known as the Edo Empire, was a kingdom located in the Southwestern region of what is now Nigeria. Lasting for at least 600 years under the Oba Dynasty, and around 1,000 more if we count the previous Ogiso Dynasty (likely closer to 2000 years between both the Ogisos and the Obas if we go with the longest estimates), Benin was one of the longest lasting states in West Africa. Home to a capital city which awed visitors, a system of earthworks rivaling the Great Wall of China in length, and some of Africa’s most famous works of art, this kingdom is an underappreciated gem of world history. This video is part of #southofthesahara, a collaboration between history channels dedicated to building a broad collection of accessible content on the underdiscussed history of Sub-Saharan Africa. Thank you to Jabari from From Nothing for organizing the collaboration, and to both Jabari and Hidden History for helping me find some of the images.I have more videos on the Kingdom of Benin and African history more broadly planned for the future, so subscribe for that!Sources:Bradbury, R. "Three members of a North Carolina police department have been fired after a department audit of a video recording captured one of the officers saying a civil war was necessary to wipe Black people off the map and that he was ready.

The Wilmington Police Department took the action on Tuesday against Cpl. Jessie Moore, and officers Kevin Piner and Brian Gilmore. Each was accused of violating standards of conduct, criticism and use of inappropriate jokes and slurs. After conferring with the city council, Wilmington City Manager Sterling Cheatham cleared Police Chief Donny Williams to release the details."

God’s Speech Promoting and Endorsing Slavery [Slavery in the Bible]
God’s Speech Promoting and Endorsing Slavery [Slavery in the Bible] Kwabena Ofori Osei 53 Views • 1 year ago

So, who would most likely be responsible for Leviticus 25:44-46, a Lord of Love, or a demonic Satan? (Read on...)———————————————Website and blog: never updated, but http://www.nonstampcollector.comBluesky: @nonstampcollector (I basically quit Twitter/X.)PATREON: http://www.patreon.com/nonstampcollectorAD: Hell isn't real, but hard drive crashes and computer thefts are. I've been using Backblaze online backup for longer than I've been on Youtube. I fear neither hell nor total data loss. Try it here: https://www.backblaze.com/cloud-backup/#af3049 . It's the only thing I've ever advertised, and I'm proud to do so knowing that it will very likely truly save someone's ass someday. Maybe yours.——————————————By their fruits shall ye know them: and think of how many thousands, or millions of lives have been utterly ruined by the fact that that passage exists in a piece of scripture that a whole bunch of people think has something to do with morality.Slavery is just about the easiest human rights issue imaginable, and the bible gets it wrong. What an embarrassment. In fact, practically any human being who has ever been born and survived to the age of 8 or so could come up with a better and more ethical set of instructions on how to behave and run a society than the bible. It would not have ownership of PEOPLE as part of its core tenets. Why did humanity have to wait thousands of years for the Emancipation Declaration? Couldn't Yahweh have delivered it himself? Couldn't Jesus? Peter? Paul? Nup - no one gave a shit about that sort of thing. Not when there were people keeping their foreskins, water to be walked on, and women speaking in churches!!Script and music and performance and drawings etc (everything) by ME!!If you haven't seen The King's Speech (Best picture Oscar winner, 2011), then you won't get this.Sorry to the non-native English speakers or those who'd like to translate it - sometimes the ideas that come to me just don't lend themselves to subtitling or even voice-over.———————————————website and blog: http://www.nonstampcollector.comtwitter: http://www.twitter.com/nonstam....pNSC——————————————--

Webinar | Structural use of bamboo culms (P2) 17 Nov 2020
Webinar | Structural use of bamboo culms (P2) 17 Nov 2020 Ambakisye-Okang Dukuzumurenyi 17 Views • 5 years ago

Session 3: Structural use of bamboo culms (Part 2)

Speaker: Zhuo Xin, Associate Professor of College of Civil Engineering and Architecture at Zhejiang University

Topic: Innovative multi-culm bamboo spatial lattice structures

The innovative multi-culm bamboo spatial lattice structures are composed of bamboo culm triangle installation units which are connected in the way that all simple connectors are the same. The topological relationship of this structural system differs from that of the traditional spatial lattice structures. A free-form surface lattice structures can be assembled in the way of tangent direction parallel connection between adjoining installation units. The bearing capacity of the structures can be strengthened in the way of normal direction parallel connection between adjoining installation units. The feasibility of this structural system has been validated by engineering applications.

Speaker: Luis Felipe Lopez, Head of Technology at Base Bahay Foundation in the Philippines

Topic: Research in the Philippines

Base Bahay Foundation is a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing disaster-resilient, sustainable socialised housing for low-income families and disaster victims using the Cement-Bamboo Frame Technology (CBFT). However, though the CBFT has been tried and tested in our various projects around the country, Base remains dedicated to constant research and innovation for the optimization of the technology.

This can be achieved through the Base Innovation Center where Base conducts research on bamboo construction technology, in collaboration with various international and local universities. Together with our partner institutions, the BIC aims to further bamboo technology and promote this for widespread use.

Speaker: David Trujillo, Chair of INBAR Construction Task Force, Assistant Professor at Coventry University

Topic: Making bamboo a mainstream structural material

Bamboo has been used as a construction material for thousands of years and currently hundreds of millions of people live in bamboo housing across the world, yet it is still perceived as non-conventional material. This is because most of bamboo constructions are vernacular. Over the last 20 years a significant effort has been made to transform it into another engineering material. This presentation identifies the state-of-the-art of bamboo engineering, including the significant progress made in the development of standards (and codes) and also identifies the path yet to cover.
