Since its foundation in 2015, Spanish NGO Open Arms has rescued over 60,000 refugees. But nothing prepared it for the events that unfolded on November 11, 2020.

Jeremiah Camara is the director and producer of the documentary film Contradiction: A Question of Faith, which examines the saturation of churches in African American communities coexisting with poverty and powerlessness. Camara is the author of the books Holy Lockdown: Does The Church Limit Black Progress? and The New Doubting Thomas: The Bible, Black Folks & Blind Belief.

In a recent report, Burkina Faso is in the process of creating a new currency which they have named SIRA. Unlike the CFA Franc, SIRA will be fully controlled by the Burkinabe authorities.

-Haiti: A Slave Society - The Haitian Revolution is a unique historical event in many ways. It was both an offshoot of the French Revolution, but also an anti-colonialist revolution. It was also the second American nation to successfully win its independence. But before we can talk about the Revolution itself, we have to talk about how influential Haiti was to France's economy and how it's complicated social structure primed it for revolt and revolution. Because here, in the colony built upon the countless bodies of the enslaved, sugar is king. But not for long.
