Burkina Faso is a special country; one that is characterized not by its economy or its nature, but by the people that inhabit it. Diversity is unequivocally Burkina Faso’s strong suite as difference takes place in co-existence. What makes this interesting for an architect is that the large variety of ethnic groups is paired with the creativity portrayed in the spatial environment.

Understanding the natural, cultural and social context in which Burkinabé citizens live will provide us with the tools to design better, more affordable and more culturally sensitive housing solutions. Comprehending their daily life is of high importance if the urbanizing population is to accept, apply, use and create new, more effective housing typologies.

This documentary shows the strength local architecture has and the inevitable change that the country is facing. Fusing both the vernacular and an African modernity offers viable solutions to the spatial development of the country’s urban growth.
I hope you enjoy it!

Check https://www.robynesome.com/bur....kinab-domesticity-do for the research paper, which contextualizes global challenges such as high population growth, rapid urbanization, and the lack of cultural values portrayed in mass housing, within Burkina Faso.

⁣⁣Kamose Gon Knock You Out – Exclusive ASCAC 2025 Presentation Access
🔥 Presented LIVE on May 2, 2025, at 8:30 PM Eastern Time as part of the 41st Annual ASCAC Conference, this 49-minute and 58-second groundbreaking session by Ɔbenfo Ọbádélé Kambon, Okunini Talawa Adodo, and sbA Bonotchi Montgomery takes Black Power scholarship to another level.
In "Kamose Gon Knock You Out", the presenters decode the twin stelae of sA Ra Kamose—military, political, and ideological declarations of war from classical Kmt ‘The Black Nation/Land of Black People’—and translate them into multiple Black languages: Ebonics, Asante Twi, Yorùbá, and Jamaican Patwa.
This exclusive video covers:
✅ A 5-part conceptual framework of internal/external friends and enemies

✅ Black-to-Black translations rooted in real Afrikan worldviews

✅ Operation Krakkka: calling out traitors, collaborators, and aAmw ‘eurasians’

✅ Cultural context and strategic vision of sA Ra Kamose

✅ Implications for modern Black Power movements (sxm km)
You’ll never look at ancient texts—or Black resistance—the same again.
🎥 Duration: 49 minutes, 58 seconds

Nnamdi Kanu is the leader of a separatist group calling for an independent State of Biafra. His followers call themselves the 'Indigenous People of Biafra' and they've not given up their dream of their own homeland in southeastern Nigeria. The region has seen a surge in attacks, with some 130 police officers killed this year alone. In May, Nigeria's security forces launched an operation to quell the violence which many fear may lead to a new war.
But the conflict between Biafran separatists and the Nigerian government is much older than this recent outbreak.
Meanwhile, reports from Cameroon indicate English speaking separatist militias have joined forces with their Nigerian counterparts. A development that has led to fears of an acceleration in violence. The Biafran secessionists and the Ambazonian Defence Force in southwestern Cameroon share a common border, and a joint purpose: to establish their own states. They say they are already sharing weapons.
One way to defuse the crisis in Nigeria would be good governance. Yet for some in the region it was actually the election of President Muhammadu Buhari, himself a veteran of the Biafran war, that reawakened calls for independence. Now the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu has only heightened tensions.

Pan Afrikanism has come under attack. It has been characterised as an irrelevant failing Movement, based a pipe dream ideology of utopian Afrikan Unity.

The most recent assault has come from the newly emerged movement of "American Descendant of Slavery/Slaves" (#ADOS). Many of its leading proponents have taken aim squarely at Pan-Afrikanism. The conversations that have ensued are laced statements such as:

► Pan-Afrikanism is DEAD
► I'm not an Afrikan - Afrikans sold us into slavery
► There's no such thing as an "Afrikan" Identity.
► Black Americans fight for Afrika and the rest of the Black world, but Pan-Afikanism is not reciprocated
► Black immigrants leech off the benefits won by the blood of Black Americans
► There is no unity in Afrika, its 54 countries.
► Other Black are trying to co-opt the Black American Struggle
► Black Caribbeans and other immigrants don't have slavery &, displacement & poverty in their history

All of the above and more have been tools to punch holes in well established ideas of Pan-Afrikanism. BUT IS ANY OF THIS TRUE?

For this conversation, we have gathered Pan-Afrikanists representing the Afrikan continent, the USA, UK, France & the Caribbean to assess this narrative. We aim to address all of the above and more - in defence of the ideologies and movements that have done and continue to do much for Afrikan people; and with the highest expression of love that we must have for our people.

#ADOS have put some very important issues on the agenda. Here we aim to address the overall narrative on Pan-Afrikanism in the hope that we can develop a shared understanding of how this powerful movement has sought to solve the problems of our people.
